ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Hauppauge office is looking for a land development/civil engineering intern to join us! Land Development engineers require a variety of skills to develop ideas and creative solutions that help make challenging development projects a reality. We are there at every stage of a project; from preliminary research, site survey, conceptual/final design, and permitting, all the way through construction. We work closely with VHBers across disciplines, and consultants to ensure a project fulfills the needs of our client.
Responsibilities
- Assist in development of planning and engineering solutions
- Assist in data mining and visualization
- Perform analysis of data or calculations
- Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
- Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
- A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
- Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field
- Strong interest in transportation, land development, urban design, real estate, environmental, institutional, or energy sector
- Ability to travel locally and complete fieldwork if necessary
Our best estimate of the hourly salary range for this position located in New York is $19/hr - $28/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
