Position Summary: This Manufacturing Skills Trainer (MST) will lead the development and continuous improvement of our training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of employees across local and regional manufacturing companies. The MST will play a key role in designing, implementing, and updating comprehensive manufacturing skills curricula to ensure high-quality instruction and meet industry standards. This position will track and expand the reach of our training initiatives, managing relationships with industrial partners within the PRCC district, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. Responsibilities also include assessing training needs, adapting content to address evolving industry demands, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that our educational offerings are aligned with the latest technological advancements and best practices in manufacturing.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and facilitates technical skills courses, which may involve traveling to various class sites as needed.
  • Recommends changes to the instructional programs and curricula as required.
  • Adheres to safety policies at the college, local, state, and federal levels, while also monitoring performance standards and maintaining fiscal and programmatic compliance for training initiatives.
  • Keeps and submits appropriate course records in accordance with program requirements.
  • Maintains instructional effectiveness by ongoing self-evaluation and incorporating current developments in instructional and learning strategies.
  • Assists the College in keeping technology, facilities, and equipment current.
  • Plans with the assistance of the Project Manager to insure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to the successful teaching of assigned classes.
  • Assists in preparation of academic schedules specifically the manufacturing technology offerings.
  • Works with the Project Manager, the Industrial Business Developer, and other staff in responding to students' needs.
  • Serves as a liaison to ensure basic instruction meets requirements for students to transition into advanced certificate and degree programs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science or equivalent in a relevant field such as manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial technology, or a closely related discipline. May accept a combination of relevant experience and education in lieu of a degree.
  • Work Experience: Applicants should have 5+ years' experience in mechanical/electronic/maintenance work in manufacturing industry. Knowledge of multiple production sectors preferred (ex: consumer goods, lumber, etc.)
  • Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to, experience with teaching and training large audiences and curriculum development; OSHA 10 certification; Microsoft Suite experience.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other instructors and divisions within the College.
  • Excellent organizational, in erpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks, meet deadlines, and ability to learn and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Some physical activity may be required for the provision of regular duties. Must be able to regularly lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel off-campus.
  • Preference given to industry recognized credentials
