Laboratory Testing, Inc Machine Shop Technician II- Wire EDM Operator in Hatfield, Pennsylvania

Join our dynamic team as a Wire EDM Machinist, where you'll expertly operate cutting-edge WEDM equipment to shape customer materials with precision and adherence to stringent specifications. Your role will involve setting up and managing multiple machines, ensuring equipment functionality, and maintaining meticulous traceability and compliance throughout the machining process.  This is a 2nd Shift role working in Hatfield, PA 2:30 PM -- 11:00 PM, M-F.

A Day in the Life of a Wire EDM Operator:

  • Performs all types of WEDM machine operations as assigned by the Machine Shop Supervisor.  This includes setting up for long and short runs of parts.
  • Squares up and machines specimens out of odd, shaped configurations to LTI procedures.
  • Operates multiple machines during a normal workday.
  • Follows all applicable and required specifications and procedures, insuring accuracy and compliance to machining requirements.
  • Maintains traceability of materials and parts during operations.
  • Ensures that the shop equipment and instruments are functioning properly and in calibration prior to performing any work.  Informs the supervisor whenever any equipment is found to be out of calibration or in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoots problems and takes corrective action, as necessary and appropriate and within guidelines as established by the supervisor or manager.
  • Monitors schedules and scheduled completion dates and times to ensure that established schedules are met.  The supervisor must be notified sufficiently in advance whenever the schedule for a job might not be met.
  • Inputs required data into computer software accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Assists with maintaining shop equipment.  This includes cleaning the equipment, performing preventive maintenance as scheduled, and performing repair maintenance as required.
  • Maintains assigned work area(s) in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.
  • Understands and complies with LTI's QA Program at all times.
  • Seeks clarification when specifications or directions are unclear.

``` - Assists with the disposal of scrap metals from within the department. - Complies with all company policies and procedures at all times. - Follows all safety rules and regulations at all times and utilizes personal protective equipment, as required. - Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Machine Shop Supervisor or the Machine Shop Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • WEDM machining experience required and knowledge of G Code programming. 
  • Experience using Sodick Wire EDM machines
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to process work with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read Micrometer and work in tenths.
  • Ability to adjust control settings and edit CNC programs.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Creativity.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds. 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or valid green card holder.
