Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

Your responsibilities

  • To assist in shop floor (Assembly) Material Review Board.

  • Ensure that Customer (both internal and external) quality queries are dealt with promptly, efficiently and professionally.

  • To maintain quality documentation in a neat and methodical manner, both in paper copy and or electronically.

  • To conduct 8D defect investigations and present written preventative and corrective actions.

  • To review the quality/effectiveness of 8D and Corrective Actions are implemented.

  • To form part of a team who conduct audits of manufacturing and control systems.

  • To liaise with the other departments to ensure that corrective actions and/or reworks are undertaken, and that actions and/or reports are produced in a suitably timely manner.

  • To assist in other Quality Department activities, to include, but not limited to, daily KPI measures and internal reworks.

  • To observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.

  • To carry out any other tasks as reasonably requested from time to time.

What your background should look like:

  • Good understanding and ability to use MS Office programmes (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Must be familiar with mechanical measurement techniques and be able to use electrical and mechanical measuring equipment.

  • Must be capable of reading engineering drawings (i.e., BS308).

  • Good general education to GCSE level.

  • Ability to learn under supervision, gain knowledge and record methods to improve working practices.

  • Work to a priority list as set through item due date/customer status.

  • Show ability to work on your own initiative, to ensure that instructions are carried out exactly and efficiently by other departments.

  • Ability to gather information rapidly and apply in a structured, methodical manner is also required.

  • Reliability and accuracy under pressure.

  • A generally positive manner is desired, as is a high degree of flexibility.

  • Proactive nature and self-starter who is keen on building and establishing a strong quality culture.

  • Clear understanding and adherence to ethical principles, company values, code of conduct and policies.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to make decisions independently.
