Forge & Build is immediately hiring a Store Associate - Yard to join our Hartselle, AL team.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and offers overtime pay after working 40 hours. (On call during the weekend only in special circumstances)
Pay range: $15 - $20

Primary Responsibilities
Service and maintain positive relationship with current customer base
Work in yard and with other sales and yard persons to ensure quality customer service
Assist and wait on customers while in yard
Report all incorrect orders/deliveries to manager and help resolve in timely manner
Understand the operations of the store computers, registers, and other equipment.
Assist in counting and maintaining inventory, and keeping yard neat, clean and orderly
Observe all safety rules and regulations, and take prompt corrective action concerning any safety hazards.
Assemble customers’ loads in accordance with loading list for delivery to job site at the time and date required by customer
Assist with receiving and loading trucks
Operates forklifts and vehicles according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
Transport loads safely and in a timely manner over required routes, obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations.
Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials, using specialized equipment when warranted; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area.
Maintains signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork in a timely manner; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
Facilitates routine service on trucks, which may include checking oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to the Shipping Supervisor.
Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must have knowledge of lumber and building products
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points.
Must be prepared to work alternate weekends
Must have good communication skills
Experience operating a forklift and straight truck
Ability to remain focused in busy environment.
Must hold either a commercial drivers license or chauffeur’s license depending on state, appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated.
Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations
Must pass DOT physical, as trucks driven are over 10k lbs.
Inherent desire to learn and develop on an individual basis

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk and stand 8 + hours a day and the ability to lift 50+lbs by self
Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull and reach above head and climb flight of stairs while carrying material
Must be able push and pull material from bin
This is a safety sensitive position and any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen
