Job Title: Manual Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in setting up and operating a variety of manual and CNC machines, including drill presses, grinders, band saws, lathes, and milling machines. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical orders. The successful candidate will perform routine maintenance, inspect machined parts for accuracy, and assemble components while adhering to health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual drill presses, grinders, band saws, lathes, and milling machines.
Set up, program, and operate CNC or mechanically controlled mills and lathes.
Develop effective manufacturing plans based on specifications, including reverse engineering existing parts.
Select correct cutting tools based on material being machined, considering cutting speeds and feeds.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and technical orders.
Conduct routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on machinery.
Inspect and measure machined parts for dimensional accuracy using micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and other measurement tools.
Regularly assemble machined components.
Adhere to health and safety regulations to minimize the risk of workplace accidents.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in setting up and operating manual and CNC machines including drill presses, grinders, band saws, lathes, and milling machines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to reverse engineer existing parts.
Knowledge of cutting speeds, feeds, and correct cutting tool selection.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and technical orders.
Experience with routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on machinery.
Proficiency in using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $31.00/hr.
