Basic Job Functions: SUMMARY: The CNC Operator is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines based on the specifications stated in the bill of materials and work instructions. Plan and organize daily workload to accommodate production schedule. Transport parts from racking and staging area utilizing a forklift. Safely operate an Up Cut saw in order to cut parts to sizes. Properly mark and stage cut parts on carts used to supply the CNC milling operations. Review specification to determine setup procedures, dimensions, and machining sequences required to manufacture parts. Load CNC programs into machine consoles by entering preprogrammed machine instructions. Observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or questionable conditions. Perform detailed inspection of manufactured parts to ensure conformance to specifications while striving to maintain production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality. Mark and stage completed parts for the assembly process. Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to squat, kneeland standfrequently. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other lifting equipment. Requires operating hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools, general fabrication tools, and various measuring devices.
