The Total Cost of Care team is a pivotal part of Aetna’s Operations team, designed to streamline cost of care management while improving medical trend over the short and long-term. By driving the Total Cost of Care process across lines of business (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, Individual & Family Plan) this leader will be accountable to drive identification of root causes of rising healthcare costs, lead design appropriate solutions, and manage a portfolio of initiatives to improve affordability for our members and plan sponsors.
Major Responsibilities
Governance and Management: Oversee the governance and management of Aetna's Total Cost of Care (TCoC) process, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and cost-reduction goals.
Trend Analysis: Analyze medical trend reports to identify rising costs and determine focus areas for root cause analysis. Allocate resources accordingly.
Team Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary team, including Root Cause Analyst Lead, Cost of Care Strategists, and Program Managers, to identify and prioritize initiatives aimed at reducing medical costs.
Solution Evaluation: Critically evaluate potential solutions by assessing root cause analyses to ensure they are targeted, actionable, and aligned with enterprise goals in partnership with the medical economics unit, our analytics & behavior change team along with cross-functional subject matter experts.
Forum Facilitation: Facilitate and oversee key TCoC forums, driving the review, funding, and prioritization of solutions to address the root causes of rising medical costs.
Strategic Decision-Making: Make strategic decisions on the prioritization and funding of potential solutions, advocating for high-impact initiatives and securing stakeholder buy-in.
Progress Tracking: Direct and oversee the tracking of progress and outcomes for implemented solutions, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
Executive Representation: Represent the TCoC team in discussions with executive leadership, providing updates on team performance, advocating for resources, and aligning initiatives with organizational objectives.
Advisory Role: Serve as a trusted advisor, influencing stakeholders across functions to achieve shared outcomes .
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$245,000 - $345,000
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.

Qualifications
Approximately 12-15 years of experience in a large health insurer or managed care organization.
Strong understanding of the healthcare continuum, including Cost of Care, Medical Trend, Utilization Management, Care Management, Network, Value-Based Contracting, Payment Integrity, and Policy.
Proven experience in strategic planning and driving enterprise-level cost containment initiatives.
Experience supporting a P&L line of business with a strong understanding of profit levers.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of healthcare analytics.
Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive actionable solutions.
Strong influence and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work across teams and functions to deliver results.
Strong executive presence with experience presenting to senior leadership.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and succeed in a matrixed organizational structure.

Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree will be valued
