Description We are seeking a Network Engineer located in Hartford, Connecticut. This role is situated within a telecom provider setting, offering an exciting opportunity to provide advanced level network administration/maintenance, encompassing enterprise VMWare, SAN and Data Centers in multiple locations. This role will involve conducting firmware, hardware, OS upgrades, and required patch management, as well as actively participating in implementing/testing disaster recovery (DR) process.

Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced level network administration/maintenance for enterprise VMWare, SAN and Data Centers in multiple locations. • Handle network administration for enterprise video conferencing and VOIP systems. • Implement firmware, hardware, OS upgrades, and manage required patch management. • Monitor overall network performance and execute necessary tuning. • Maintain backup copies for all network component configurations. • Participate actively in implementing/testing disaster recovery (DR) process. • Regularly test the validity of network redundancy and failover circuit testing. • Analyze and define systems information requirements and objectives for application and systems enhancements or replacements. • Prepare written documentation in support of network enhancements and replacements (hardware/software). • Identify and resolve internetworking issues between different vendor systems and devices. • Develop, implement, document and validate comprehensive test plans of relevant networking components and related interfaces. • Participate in the system selection process, including needs assessment, RFP and vendor selection. • Provide 3rd level networking support.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) • Familiarity with Exchange Switch and Wireless • Knowledge in Computer Hardware • Experience in Configuration Management • Design Skills • Proficiency in Eigrp • Familiarity with Firewall Technologies • Experience with Checkpoint Firewall Requirements • Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a related field • Proficient in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) • Familiarity with Checkpoint and Checkpoint Firewall technologies • Familiarity with Exchange wireless and switching technologies • Extensive knowledge in computer hardware • Experience in configuration management is necessary • Must possess strong design and documentation skills • Proficiency in Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) • Solid understanding of firewall technologies is required • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without must be eligible to work in the U.S. • Must be fluent in English for communication purposes • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred • Must be able to pass all company-required tests and meet company standards • Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
