Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

$135,700.00 - $223,900.00

As a Senior Architect supporting Claim, you will collaborate with Technology and Business leaders and apply your knowledge of modern technology to influence and innovate solutions that impact the business. In this role we will look to you to:

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure APIs, ensuring they meet business requirements and industry standards.

  • Establish and enforce API standards, best practices, and governance policies to ensure consistency, security, and performance across all API implementations.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high-quality API solutions.

  • Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and security, implementing measures to protect against vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

What Will You Do?

  • Collaborate with Claim and technology leadership to develop architecture priorities and direction to enable business imperatives.

  • Advocate for modern architecture principles and technology modernization.

  • Drive continuous technology transformation to reduce technical debt.

  • Partner with engineering to align skills with technology direction and execute proof of technologies.

  • Analyze industry and technology trends to leverage advancements.

  • Lead and define technology proof of concepts to validate architecture solutions.

  • Engage in hands-on prototyping of new technology solutions.

  • Define target state technology architecture and roadmaps.

  • Align IT initiatives with the target state architecture.

  • Communicate architectural direction and its alignment with enterprise strategy.

  • Optimize talent strategy to ensure appropriate balance of resources.

  • Continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the architecture.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent with 6+ years of API architecture experience.

API Expertise:

  • Proficient in REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.

  • Experienced with API management platforms (Apigee, MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, Kong).

  • Knowledgeable in OAuth, JWT, API keys, and SAML.

  • Skilled in API design and documentation tools (Stoplight, Swagger/OpenAPI, Postman, RAML).

  • Proficient with API performance monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus).

  • Experienced in integrating APIs with SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Familiar with API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, Junit).

  • Understanding of event-driven API architecture.

Technical Skills:

  • Established strategic technology direction and architecture vision.

  • Developed technology roadmaps aligned with business goals.

  • Executed cloud-native migration and API strategy.

  • Deep experience with AWS, APIs, accelerators, and DevSecOps.

  • Cloud Architecture Certification (AWS, GCP, Azure) or strong cloud architecture experience.

  • Good understanding of security and large-scale platforms.

  • Experience in agile operating models and insurance technology.

  • Proficient with Git.

  • Familiar with DevOps practices and tools.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud data technologies.

  • Ability to establish strategic technology direction and architecture vision in alignment with business goals.

  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration, including developers, product managers and Circle/Value Steam leads.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in work experience.

  • Six years of experience in enterprise, application, and/or information architecture within a line of business or enterprise area
