The Medical Physics Assistant works under the direct supervision of a Qualified Medical Physicist (QMP) in performing routine quality assurance (QA) tasks, preparing plans and delivering plans for patient-specific QA, and assisting in the overall quality assurance program across multiple sites. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following: · Prepares for delivery and delivers patient-specific QA for patients undergoing intensity modulated or high-dose stereotactic treatments. · Acquires images to be analyzed by a QMP for monthly and annual linear accelerator (linac) quality assurance. · Assists with standard work development, tip sheets, procedure development · Participates in intradepartmental educational sessions or meetings that pertain to medical physics and QA/Quality Management. This may include keeping minutes for the QM meeting · Performs 10-chart audits for QM, and assist in chart preparation for accreditation visits. · Develops and monitors data analysis and statistical tools that track system accuracy and performance · Assists in retrieving treatment planning images from various modalities and preparing the datasets for image fusion and treatment planning _Education:_ · Bachelor’s Degree in physics or a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years’ experience in Radiation Oncology as radiation therapist (RTT) or medical dosimetrist (CMD) _Experience:_ · Strong preference for experience in radiation oncology as RTT, physics assistant or CMD · Departmental leadership and/or special project experience _Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:_ • Proficiency in, or ability to quickly learn the following: o Varian TrueBeam and C Series linac operation and beam delivery o Elekta Versa, Synergy, and Infinity linac operation and beam delivery o Mosaiq Record and Verify o Eclipse Treatment Planning System • Knowledge and proficiency in radiology oncology terminology • Proficiency in standard computer-based applications such as Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel. • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, written, verbal and listening. • Display and uphold HHC core values of Integrity, Caring, Excellence and Safety on behalf of our patients, one another, and the organization. • Flexibility to travel between sites as needed We take great care of careers.
