GRAIN ELEVATOR SUPERINTENDENT

This a salaried, exempt-level position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grain Elevator Superintendent position entails the coordination of day-to-day activities of a designated grain elevator. This includes the oversight of grain inventory/handling, grain quality/conditioning, elevator equipment, housekeeping, maintenance, rail loading preparations/activities, and the loading/unloading of grain trucks.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all Prairie Grain Partners’ safety policies and procedures in compliance with Company and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNT, DOT, ect.)

  • Commitment to PGP’s goal of achieving a zero-injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures

  • Responsible for direct employee management

  • Oversee and provide direction, guidance, feedback, mentoring, and coaching to all direct reports

  • Responsible for Timecard management for all direct reports

  • Operate PLC for truck unloading and loading operations

  • Under the direction of the area manager, maintain and coordinate preventative maintenance programs

  • Meet regularly with area manager to communicate operations

  • Track and document grain quality on established schedule

  • Ensure no commingling of grain

  • Keep facility and grounds clean by following established housekeeping schedule

  • Adhere to computerized preventative maintenance program

  • Mechanical, electrical, leadership Job Hazard Analysis and safety/regulatory compliance

  • Manage ground pile filling and emptying operations

  • Perform physical grain inventory on established schedules

  • Operate equipment to empty bunkers

  • Operate snow removal equipment and ensure facility is accessible for employees and customers prior to opening business hours

  • Assist customers as needed (directions, open hoppers, etc.)

  • Dump trucks at pits

  • Conduct general maintenance and clean up at facility as needed

  • Communicate effectively with area manager and co-workers

  • Practice proper PPE and abide by all safety regulations (lockout/tag out, permits, fall protection, etc.)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in grain operations or a combination of education and experience

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States

  • English Proficiency

  • 2-3 years’ experience developing a team

  • Knowledge of agriculture or farming background and mechanical equipment

  • Troubleshooting/problem solving experience

  • Computer proficiency

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and report writing

  • Ability to train others

  • Exceptional customer service

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours as needed

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock

  • Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold and extreme heat

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud

  • Safety sensitive position

  • Occasionally required to travel
