DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this Tax Examiner 1 position, you will join the Business Tax Return Processing, Corporation Tax Division in the review and examination of corporation tax and specialty tax returns, schedules, and related documents. Our team's top-tier on-the-job training is designed to develop your technical knowledge and skills in these processes and provide you with a thorough understanding of state tax laws, regulations, and procedures.

In this position you will learn everything from how to determine tax liability and calculate appropriate penalties and interest to determining if a credit is valid and making the appropriate adjustments based on correspondence, phone calls, or internal requests. Your training will also include communicating effectively with internal boards and bureaus, external entities, taxpayers, and their representatives. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7.5 hours per day. Usually 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Candidate may also choose a schedule with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, except for required in office training and Commonwealth Policy requiring one day per month in office. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of general office work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
