As a Tax Examiner 1, you will join the Bureau of Business Taxpayer Accounting, Business Tax Payment Refund Division, Administrative Review Section in their responsibility for the examination of all available tax returns, reports, and audit narratives from sales, employers, corporations, personal income, and the Department of State to determine corporate officers, responsible parties, and partners. Our on-the-job training is designed to develop your technical knowledge and skills and provide you with a thorough understanding of state tax laws, regulations, and procedures.

In this position, you will determine tax liabilities for sales and employers, excluding use tax, by reviewing all available tax documents and audit narratives. You will have an opportunity to assist taxpayers with registering and filing returns and payments via e-TIDES and Tele-file.Take on the technical world of taxes and achieve your career objectives with this exciting opportunity!

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute or 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time after successfully completing in-office training. Full-time telework includes one required in-office day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of general office work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirement: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement: This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075,  acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
