DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Senior Applications Developer, you will be tasked with performing highly complex advanced technical work encompassing the Commonwealth Workforce Development System (CWDS). CWDS is an enterprise application shared between multiple program bureaus and Commonwealth agencies. You will be responsible for developing new application systems to meet program initiatives that are associated with the Workforce Development business programs. In this role, you will serve as a senior lead application developer, reporting directly to the Applications Developer Administrator (ADA) of the Workforce Development Division (WDD). Work assignments will be made on the most complex and highly critical application program components in CWDS and PA CareerLink. Subordinate activities are reviewed during the projects to ensure said projects and job responsibilities are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with established standards. You will have the opportunity to meet with program area staff to determine system requirements, system design, coding of a large, complex web application, track defects and enhancements through an established incident management process, work with the reporting subsystem, as well as advanced end user support. Additional responsibilities include: Serving as a technical lead on projects that involve critical business processes and diverse operational requirements Acting as a consultant and technical advisor to business analysts Making recommendations on new software and technology to improve business processes and system operations Performing code and functionality reviews of developers within the application subsystem track as well as quality assurance reviews Providing support to program areas after the implementation of the application for debugging and usage of the application

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be required to report in-office one day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Applications Developer 2 or Computer Programmer 4; or Five years of information technology experience that includes three years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance; or Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications mainte ance, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
