JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Harrisburg Central PA Research and Teaching Laboratory for Biofuels is seeking a candidate for the position of Research Technologist - Life Sciences (Laboratory Manager). Job Responsibilities:

Develop, design, and conduct research experiments; research responsibilities are focused on industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) tissue culture and CRISPR gene editing and evaluation of the results

Responsible for the safe operation of the biofuels research laboratory

Responsible for all greenhouse activities, including daily care of plants, pesticide applications as needed, and collection of data from transgenic plants

Train users in equipment operation and research techniques, explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations, and outcomes

Responsible for maintaining supplies of laboratory chemicals and equipment and performing routine laboratory and greenhouse audits

May supervise lower-level staff, wage employees, and/or students

Participate in K-12 STEM outreach activities Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree preferred) in plant biology, horticulture/breeding

Plus seven years of related experience in industry or academics

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with molecular biology and genetic transformation techniques is a plus How to Apply:

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $42,100.00 - $61,000.00
