Schedule: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Purpose:
Under the supervision of physicians and in the presence of a Polysomnographic Technologist, the Polysomnographic Technician is responsible for performing patient care duties and providing customer service to clients of the sleep center.
Responsibilities:
Serves, manages and supports internal and external customers.
Cleaning and sterilization are performed according to infection control guidelines.
Inventory of lab supplies is taken and level for optimum functioning of lab is maintained.
Educates patients on sleep lab procedures.
Prepares patients for diagnostic testing as directed and according to departmental procedures.
Accurately scores and analyzes sleep studies.
Participates in sleep disorders center professional activities and continuing education.
Performs therapeutic treatments and interventions, working with a Polysomnographic Technologist at all times.
Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
HS Diploma Required
Bachelor's Degree or 6 months relevant experience in a related field (such as Sleep, EEG, Respiratory Therapy, or similar) preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation OR Basic Life Support.
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Licensed to practice as a Polysomnographic Technologist from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT), the American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) or the National Board of Respiratory Care (CRT-SDS or RRT-SDS) within 6 months of meeting the eligibility requirements, and within 2 years from date of hire required.
