Duties, Responsibilities & Other

This is a remote position but the candidate must be willing and able to perform field work in Chambersburg, PA and surrounding area. The OSP Engineer is responsible for the design, field notes and pricing of both copper and fiber facilities. OSP Engineer candidate with prior Brightspeed (formerly Centurylink/Lumen) experience is preferred Must have extensive computer knowledge. Responsibilities: Engineering routine and specific outside plant work orders utilizing any combination of aerial, buried or underground cable Copper and fiber optic cable engineering Requires field visits May have short project turnaround times This position requires both field and home office work. Ability to work in the Brightspeed territories in VA or PA is required. Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of outside plant design for business-as-usual (BAU) Copper and fiber optic cable experience Working understanding of the RUS (Rural Utility Standards) coding process is preferred Must have extensive computer knowledge Prior experience with the following Brightspeed (Formally CenturyLink/Lumen) proprietary systems is preferred, but not required: NDS Fireworks Bidmaster Potential candidates must have a minimum of two years OSP Design experience with aerial, buried and underground telecommunication infrastructure. Candidates must also have knowledge with civil design specific to utility relocation, including proposing the relocation of aerial, buried, underground cable design and path creation.  Well-rounded knowledge of copper cable, fiber-optic cable, conduit, manhole and hand hole design is preferred. Experience working with local municipalities (City, County, State, & Railroad) for permit requests is also required. The ability to review projects with customer(s) and answer design questions will be a requirement of this position. Attendance at meetings on behalf of the customer(s) may be required.  Discussing "in depth" project specific details will also be required at these meetings. Applicants must be dependable with scheduling work to be completed and flexible to complete projects within the time allotted by the customer(s).  Qualified applicants must also be able to work overtime and out-of-town for short periods of time if necessary.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 2 - 4 years of design experience required. Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Complete Annual Individual Training Program Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence Comply with all KCI policies and procedures Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements Complete other duties as required/assigned Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(80-85% typical) Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters Compare field data to base plan Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job Review and approve shop drawings #LI-KH1
