Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

You will be working as a maintenance mechanic for a scrap yard, performing upkeep and repairs on trailers and heavy equipment. The equipment ranges from forklifts and front-end loaders to Liebherr cranes. You will perform both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and necessary repairs. Additionally, experience with hydraulic systems and air pumps and valves is required. Welding experience and a Class A CDL are highly desirable.

Shift and Pay

Pay ranges from $28-$35/hr

You will work from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with possible Saturday hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanic repairs on tractor trailers and heavy equipment

• Conduct preventive maintenance, including greasing, bearing checks, oil changes, and filter changes

• Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems, including reading prints or schematics

• Repair air leaks and air valves

• Perform heavy welding on large metal and steel

• Service skid steers, material handlers, forklifts, and front-end loaders

• Keep work area clean and notify the supervisor of needed repairs

• Possibly operate equipment to ensure proper functionality

• Comply with company site policies and safety procedures

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience working as a mechanic

• Experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment

• Knowledge of hydraulic components and schematics

• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues

• Proficiency in welding and fabrication is a plus

• Class A CDL is a plus

• Ability to work in various weather conditions and rough terrain

• Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and climb in and out of machinery

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication experience

• Ability to provide own basic tools

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work well with others and in tight quarters

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $72800.00/yr.
