Responsibilities
Description of Position:
Assist in the daily operations of the Summer Youth Enrichment Program. Group Leaders are responsible for the assigned participants in their group at all times and other participants when needed and outlined by supervisory staff. Group Leaders are responsible to manage the basic behavior of their group during learning activities, various special classes, field trips and guest presentations following provided program rules and behavior plans. Group Leaders must actively participate in all activities in order to model positive participation and cooperation to youth. Group Leaders will also facilitate provided 7 Habits and Lit Camp curriculum and will teach or assist in teaching a Choice Class. Position is 40 hours a week, full-time, seasonal employment.
Qualifications
Requirements:
High School Diploma with 2-3 years of work-related experience in the areas of Elementary Education and or child care. Should be self-motivated; exhibit strong init iative and time management skills as well as good organizational and interpersonal skills. The position requires the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment but also the ability to work independently. Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city and un-churched youth is required. Must be a detail-oriented, logical thinker, who is a motivated self-starter and able to work independently on assigned projects. Must be able to adapt and change to meet the needs of the organization and the community. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
Valid National Sex Offender Registry Clearance
TB Test
Health Physical to meet DHS compliance for licensed School Age Centers
Upon hire, complete 10 hours Health and Safety Training
As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter
Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
