UPMC Director, Finance in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Purpose:

The Director, Finance assists the Executive Finance Leader in all aspects of finance operations oversight. This role will lead the team in the preparation of financial reporting, projections, analytics, internal and strategic planning. To successfully perform in this role, the incumbent must possess strong management, communication and organization skills in addition to strong understanding of healthcare operational finance and financial analysis, statutory and other regulatory bases. Also, have must have a strong ability to lead, manage and mentor staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate variances and derive solutions to cost increases and quality issues.

  • Represent the Finance Department as required at internal and external functions as deemed necessary. When applicable, provide presentations concerning financial matters.

  • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance for use with internal management.

  • Use knowledge and expertise to lead team in financial interpretation, analysis and reporting, as well as in identifying opportunities to improve clinical and financial performance.

  • Lead and train others to become the process expert for the team, ensuring support for the staff.

  • Provide mentorship and aide in staff professional development.

  • Effectively manage staff performing various financial reporting and analysis functions. Meet department's objectives by establishing patterns and organizing the work of the department, as well as coordinating with stakeholders from other departments to achieve goals.

  • Perform all responsibilities according to the philosophy and mission of the UPMC by conveying courtesy, respect, enthusiasm and a positive attitude in work situations involving patients, visitors, clinical staff, co-workers, other UPMC staff and external contacts.

  • Lead the team to meet deadlines and turnaround times set by management (these deadlines and turnaround times will, at times, require the employee to work until the project is completed, meaning extended daily work hours, extended work weeks, or both).Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is required.

  • A minimum of seven years of related work experience required.

  • Minimum of two years managerial or supervisory experience required.

  • CPA/MBA or equivalent advanced degree highly preferred.

  • Prior working experience in financial analysis, projections, and/or budgeting required.

  • Proficiency in various computer software packages, such as Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, and other financial and data software.

  • Must possess strong management, communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to relate to executive leadership.

  • Person must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative on a daily basis.

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
