Director, Supply Chain Warehouse and Logistics

The Supply Chain Department is responsible for all aspects of planning procurement, manufacturing scheduling, capacity planning, materials management, and logistics. This includes deployment of common system, improved processes, and advanced technology to drive continuous improvement in planning, scheduling, and supply chain optimization.

This Director, Supply Chain Warehouse and Logistics is responsible for establishing and continuously improving Supply Chain and Customer Service policy and procedure or the site. This position will manage the Maryland Warehouses, including Customer delivery schedules, Sales Order Processing, Demand Management, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Materials Supply Management, Procurement, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain reporting and Supply Chain related JDE implementation and data elements, including item master, routing, and bill of material. The Director, Supply Chain Warehouse and Logistics is also responsible to ensure activities of all assigned personnel result in the successful, timely and cost-effective processing of orders to insure customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

The Role:

  • Creates the strategic direction of supply chain and customer-oriented process to maximize customer satisfaction, while optimizing cost effectiveness and inventory levels.

  • Hires, develops, and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.

  • Informs personnel of communications, decisions, policies, and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes, and results.

  • Assists Senior Director, Supply Chain in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives related to Supply Chain activities.

  • Serves as the escalation point for both customer and supplier issues and complaints, including those issues that may affect the on-time and cost-effective supply of product.

  • Develops and sustains internal customer relationships through direct interaction, responsiveness, and accountability.

  • Designs and implements new or improved systems and processes to drive improvement in levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Is responsible for driving performance to target in the key indicators for supply chain-oriented measures.

  • Directs the supply chain team to manage all Warehouse activities, including product delivery schedules, demand management, materials supply management, capacity planning, supply chain reporting and supply chain related JDE data.

  • Creates and supports, the implementation and execution of best practices processes such as Lean, Six Sigma, CAPA, ERP/JDE, SIOP.

  • Maintains effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.

  • Responsible for the data integrity, management, and communication of all supply related plans and schedules at the facility.

  • Drives compliance with all applicable corporate and regulatory SOP and cGMP guidelines for their area of responsibility.

  • Takes responsibility for direct reports’ performance by setting clear goals and expectation, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring constructive feedback, and addressing performance-related concerns and issues promptly.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. Master’s Degree in related field is preferred.

  • 8+ years of progressively increasing managerial experience in customer service/supply chain.

  • Qualification equivalent to APICS certification is a strong advantage.

  • Thorough and proven experience of ERP and supply chain systems.

  • GMP Manufacturing experience.

  • Direct ERP Implementation experience an advantage.

  • Proven project management experience.

  • Proven experience of global supply chain management.

  • Direct experience of continuous improvement tools and techniques.

  • Ability to write SOPs, batch production records and reports independently.

  • Ability to work with and lead other groups to develop, qualify and transfer methods, and drive complete investigation, deviation, and change control practices.

  • Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with supply chain and warehouse environments.

  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
