Description
We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity in the construction industry, based in Harahan, Louisiana. We are in search of a Controller who is highly organized and detail-oriented. The Controller will be tasked with overseeing accounting functions, managing a team, and utilizing accounting software systems effectively. This is a 100% on-site opportunity in the greater New Orleans area.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the project accounting functions, with an emphasis on the percentage (%) of completion, revenue recognition and job costing.
• Lead and manage a team of 2-3 individuals, ensuring smooth operations of the accounting department.
• Actively participate in hands-on tasks such as booking Journal Entries and reconciling accounts.
• Utilize accounting software systems such as ComputerEase, Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel effectively.
• Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) and billing statements efficiently.
• Conduct auditing tasks and ensure adherence to budget processes.
• Manage payroll process.
• Monitor and manage month-end close procedures. Preparing financial statements and presenting to executive board.
• Maintain a high level of customer service, processing customer applications, maintaining accurate customer records, and resolving customer inquiries.
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary.
Requirements
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Controller or similar position.
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing all Accounting Functions.
• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) and Payroll.
• Familiarity with Auditing processes and procedures.
• Proficient use of ComputerEase software preferred; experience with ERP systems required.
• Ability to effectively use Excel Formulas.
• Knowledge of percentage (%) of completion method in accounting, job costing and revenue recognition.
• Experience in Project Accounting.
• Proven ability in managing Month End Close processes.
