Actalent Mechanical Design Engineer in Hanover Park, Illinois

Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description

The purpose of the Mechanical Engineer position is to design, develop, and ensure the compliance of ASME/ANSI standards within custom fabrications, primarily performed on water treatment/chemical dosing skids.

Responsibilities

  • Design 'Skids / Systems' in SolidWorks™ based on sold jobs.

  • Work with Application Engineers and Sales to develop engineered solutions for sold systems.

  • Compare P&ID (typically AutoCAD™) drawings to system quotes to guarantee system accuracy. Revise and incorporate in drawing submittals.

  • Provide necessary NPSH calculations, pressure drops, pump/flow meter sizing, or other engineering calculations to support drawings for system designs.

  • Work with necessary OEM vendors.

  • Ensure ASME/ANSI design compliance.

  • Provide necessary notes/instructions to ensure fabricators build within ASME 31.1 & 31.3 compliance.

  • Build weld maps/frame or structural design layout.

  • Complete revisions of drawings per customer markups.

  • Coordinate with the team for scope changes or engineering solutions.

  • Prepare detailed BOM (Bill of Material) for each system.

  • Work with Mechanical Shop Supervisor to complete as-built drawings per markups on tested equipment.

  • Support Mechanical Shop Supervisor.

  • Mechanical integration design.

  • Provide high-level mechanical support for the service team.

  • Provide high-level support for Application Engineers/Sales in developing their systems.

Essential Skills

  • B.S. of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • SolidWorks 3D drafting experience.

  • AutoCAD drafting experience.

  • Proficiency in mechanical technical print and industrial technical documentation.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Engineering math skills for solving designs or calculating system loading.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • SolidWorks routing preferred.

  • Experience in the water treatment/fluids industry preferred.

Work Environment

This employee will work primarily in an office, spending much of their day working with appropriate computer programs/software for drafting. The position requires a 40-hour work week, with the workday structured based on the workload of project deliverables.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46
