MAG IT Specialist in Hanover, Maryland

Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking an experienced IT Specialist to support as a System Administrator for multiple DoD guest systems at various classifications. Tasks include performing help desk, account creation, ticket management, hardware, and software installation, troubleshooting and other administrative tasks associated with ongoing maintenance and enhancement of information systems and services.

This is an opportunity to be involved in the newly formed PM Cyber & Space and be a part of the rapidly growing Cyber and Space Program Office responsible for key capabilities within the offensive cyber operations world.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Performs tier 1 support to end users, examples include

  • Creating and responding to helpdesk tickets, Process new users

  • Helping and teaching new users how to setup account accesses, Enrolling users with mobile devices,

  • Troubleshooting Windows 11 and MS Office issues with end users

  • Troubleshooting PKI and email issues with end users

  • Resetting passwords on user accounts

  • Perform tasks based on new projects and modernization

  • Research software and hardware solutions

  • Help identify requirements and assist in the approval of hardware/software solution

  • Conduct ongoing cybersecurity maintenance on information systems

  • Updating, upgrading, security hardening and maintenance tasks on a variety of servers including physical, virtual and cloud based.

  • Perform Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) configurations on Windows, Linux and Network based technologies.

  • · Be able to work independently to produce and maintain system of the following server applications, service types and technologies:

  • MS Windows Server 2019-2022, MS Windows 11, MS Exchange 2019, MS SharePoint, MS SQL, VMware ESXI,VMware VSphere

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Video Teleconference Systems (VTCs)

  • Cisco supported IOS command line interface (CLI)

  • MS Group Policy Objects (GPOs)

  • MS Office suite

  • DoD CAC PKI token certificate concepts

  • Security hardening of Servers and client Operating Systems

  • Host Based Security System (HBSS) - Trelix EPO, Anti-virus and plugins

  • Deploying Windows images

  • Network technologies including DHCP and VLANs

  • STIG compliance of Server and client Operating Systems

  • NSA Type 1 encryption devices

  • Metro Ethernet WAN technologies (MPLS)

  • ACAS (Tenable Security Center & Nessus)

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of customer service, the ability to listen carefully and the ability to quickly determine problem solutions or escalation path.

  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense

  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and while speaking so others will understand.

  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Ability to provide technical training to non-technical end users.

  • Ability to learn, adapt and support new systems and applications. Hands on experience with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and operations of IT technologies such as Desktop Computers, Monitors, Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) switches, Printers, Laptops, routers, and switches.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of system security certification and accreditation policies, directives, regulations, and instructions for Government AIS networks.

Clearance

  • TS with SCI Eligibility

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in system administration.

Education

  • Four (4) years experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.

  • Meet requirements for DoD 8140 or DoD 8570.

Desired Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with course of study in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or Business

  • Any experience in compliance with Army, DoD or other Government Information Systems and Information Assurance policies

  • Experience in configuration, documenting and security hardening of MS Windows and Linux based systems; risk analysis; disaster recover; system log analysis

  • TS/SCI

Other Qualifications

Ability to work in office/lab environments

Ability to travel 5%
