Make a difference as a Peer Recovery Specialist I - South Eastern Family Project

As a Peer Recovery Specialist I at the South Eastern Family Project (SEFP), you will play a vital role in promoting recovery for pregnant and postpartum women diagnosed with substance use disorders. SEFP is a licensed 3.5 and 3.1 comprehensive residential program, offering gender-specific services in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that caters to individual needs. Your responsibilities will include providing peer support, advocating for clients, and assisting with essential physical, financial, social, and recovery needs.

By employing a holistic approach to prevention, intervention, and treatment, you will foster the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the women and families served. Moreover, as part of the Partners in Recovery team, you will contribute to our commitment to quality outpatient counseling and medication management, ensuring a person-centered clinical approach tailored to the unique challenges faced by individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

To excel as a Peer Recovery Specialist I at the South Eastern Family Project, candidates must bring a unique blend of personal experience and professional skills. Applicants should have experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition themselves, showcasing a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery while demonstrating the ability to manage their condition effectively. Completion of the DBHDS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training within six months of hire is essential to ensure adherence to best practices in peer support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, as you will serve as a consumer advocate, providing vital assistance to individuals in need. Additionally, a valid Driver's License is required, as transporting clients may be necessary.

The knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Must be a person who has experienced a mental health and/or substance use condition and who has a minimum of 12 months of successful recovery including making progress in learning about and managing his or her condition and in developing a life outside of or in addition to this condition.
  • Must complete the DBHDS 72-hour Peer ecovery Specialist Training within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License. Transports individuals as necessary.
