Day to day as a Primary Care Intermediate Care Facility Medical Director
As a part-time ICF Medical Director at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a vital role in overseeing medical care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this capacity, you will plan, coordinate, and direct the delivery of essential medical services while collaborating closely with our program nurses. Your responsibilities include conducting monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews for each individual, and ensuring personalized and attentive care. Additionally, you will complete physical examination reports and recertify Medicaid for ICF placement on an annual basis.

What you need to be successful
To excel as a Part-time ICF Medical Director at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates must possess a robust skill set tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A graduate from an accredited school of medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. ABMS certified or eligible in a primary care specialty. Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Virginia, as well as a Drug Enforcement Administration registration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, as you will collaborate with program nurses and engage with clients and their families.
The ability to respond effectively to urgent medical issues is vital, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained at all times. Adaptability, compassion, and a commitment to client advocacy will further enhance your success in this rewarding role.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Experience providing medical care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

- Practicing physician holding a current unrestricted license with the Virginia Board of Medicine.
