As a Direct Support Associate at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of individuals requiring total care in a group home environment. This position demands physical stamina and resilience, as you will be responsible for the well-being of clients with complex physical and medical needs. Your responsibilities will include providing direct support in activities such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with toileting, as well as managing assistive technology like wheelchairs and walkers.
You will also engage in physically intensive tasks, such as lifting clients weighing between 100 and 300 lbs, navigating stairs, and safely managing clients with diverse and sometimes challenging behaviors. Utilizing equipment like Hoyer lifts and adaptive devices, you will ensure that each individual receives the compassionate, high-quality care they deserve.

To excel as a Direct Support Associate at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates should possess one year of direct care experience working with adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, or experience working in an Intermediate Care Facility, CNA a plus. A valid Driver's License is crucial for transporting clients as needed.
The knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- One year of direct care experience working with adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities mental illness or experience working in an Intermediate Care Facility.
- CNA is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License. Transports clients as necessary.
