Casella Waste Systems Inc. Operations Manager in Halfmoon, New York

Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the recycling and other post-collections activities within the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The incumbent will collaborate with the Division or Market Area Manager and other managers in the business unit to execute division strategy to produce marketable commodities and implement tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and budget achievement.

Hiring Range: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees all operations staff to provide leadership for the recycling and other post-collections operations of a Materials Recycling Facility.
  • Manages staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management to develop supervisory goals and objectives and effective resolution of safety issues and claims.
  • Implements and executes plans to compliment the business unit’s strategic and operating plan in order to lead the execution of tactical initiatives within the business unit to maximize the customer experience, growth and durability, while optimizing profitability
  • Establishes and maintains a high level of professionalism in the areas of safety, quality, and production to ensure workplace safety and efficiency.
  • Reviews and measures daily productivity and material quality to increase efficiencies.
  • Manages all systems and procedures to achieve continuous compliance with all permits and certifications.
  • Provides training to employees to ensure adherence to all accident/injury prevention programs and safety regulations
  • Manages and provides leadership to team members by effectively communicating, establishing clear goals and objectives, coaching team members on achieving goals, and ensuring access to training and development opportunities that assist employees in attaining the necessary skills to achieve team and corporate results.
  • Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.
  • Ensures compliance with all company, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws regarding employment and employee safety.
Education, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent with 4-6 years of business experience with increasing responsibilities, along with 3-5 years of leadership experience with creating a positive and healthy work environment. The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment and consistently demonstrating integrity for the well-being of employees and the company.

Outstanding relationship management skills, excellent listening, verbal and written communication, and formal presentation skills are required. An ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other related platforms are expected.
