What you will do

At Powertrain Engineering for Volvo Group North America, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. The Hagerstown Exhaust Aftertreatment SYstems team is seeking an engineer in the field of OBD calibration and development. You should be prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of engineering. You will be responsible for:

Testing:

  • Operate world-class heavy-duty engine dynamometer test cells

  • Take responsibility of efficiently and accurately executing test procedures while concurrently reviewing test results to ensure reliability of data

Dataset function owner:

  • Calibrate on-board diagnostic functionality pertaining to the aftertreatment system catalysts, filter, sensors, and other technologies

  • Verify OBD monitor performance and robustness through data analysis from trucks, test cells, and other sources

  • Plan, conduct, and interpret results from development and verification testing

  • Innovate OBD algorithms and concepts with respect to future CARB and EPA requirements

  • Perform calculations by applying the latest analytical methods in support of monitor testing and design

  • Issue written and oral reports

You will report to the Group Manager of the Aftertreatment engineering team.

At Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) in Hagerstown, MD, we are at the heart of research and development of powertrain and propulsion systems for heavy-duty trucks.

The Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems (EATS) team is part of the Combustion and Aftertreatment Technology Department in Hagerstown. Our team is responsible for the development of hardware for aftertreatment systems, calibration of emissions control algorithms for CARB/EPA compliance, and development of on-board diagnostics (OBD) for the EATS and all subsystems. Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 5-8+ years of experience in engineering.

  • Experience with diesel engines and/or exhaust aftertreatment development is a plus

  • Ability to travel domestic and international occasionally.
