Title: AUTOMOTIVE WORKER SUPERVISOR-CAR CARE CENTER-RFT Location: United States-Guam-Hagatna Job Number: 240001VW Job Summary: Serves as Automotive Worker Foreman exercising supervisory responsibility for control over work operations involving Automotive Workers Mobile Equipment Services and Automotive Customer Services Clerk. Duties and Responsibilities: Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who issues broad guidelines and instructions. Performs normal day-to-day assigenments independently and in compliance with existing rules regulations and policies. Work is reviewed in terms if efficiency and effectiveness of operations. - Supervises approximately 13-30 subordinates in grades NA-8 NA-5 and PS-4 engaged in making repairs to a variety of component parts accessories and parts of systems of automotive vehicles rendering services and making adjustments such as tire and tube maintenance ignition tune-up lubrications oil changes battery service minor repair work and simple accessory installations and the preparation of work sheets for repair of vehicles setting up schedules taking special orders and handling customer complaints. Counsels employees adjusts informal complaints and grievances through discussions with employees and union representatives and initiates disciplinary actions as needed. Evaluates work performance of subordinate personnel and approves leave. Trains subordiantes in the area of safety proper work procedures housekeeping and in the automotive techniques. - Establishes work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Provides adequate staffing for all areas of responsibility to assure the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments and insures the compliance of all safety regulations. - Analyzes material and labor costs to effect economics. Effects changes in work assignments and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs. Takes necessary action to assure economical use and protection of supplies tools equipment and cash. - Keeps abreast of latest techniques for automotive servicing. Detemines equipment and materials required. Monitors work flow of daily commitments to insure that work will be completed or patron is aware of possible delay. - Maintains necessary records of transactions and reports which may be required. - Carries out EEO policies and communicates support of these policies to subordinates. Assures equality in determining qualifications selections assignments training promotions details discipline and awards to employees. Cooperates and participates fully in the development of an EEO Affirmative Action Plan and efforts regarding staffing motiviation and training to develop all employees. Ensures that minorities and women are considered for training opportunities and are also nominated appointed to boards and committees. Coordinates efforts with EEO officals and execution of policies affecting civilian personnel. Responsible for keeping abreast of developments policy issuances etc. in the equal employment opportunity field and for fully supporting the NEX Equal Opportunity Program. - Exercises tact good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This is expressed by tactfully responding to patrons in a prompt and friendly manner. - Peforms other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Is required to stand stoop bend stretch and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions where parts worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally may lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Normally works inside on concrete floors where it is drafty and noisy and where fumes from vehicles are present and occasionally outside sometimes in bad weather. Is exposed to dirt and grease and is subject to cuts bruises burns shocks and strains. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform a full range of duties in connection with the servicing of vehicles and mobile equipment and performing minor maintenance work. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Three years of experience that provided the knowledge and ability to perform repairs and service a variety of component parts accessories and parts of systems of automobiles trucks vans forklifts etc. perform prescribed tests inspections to insure vehicles meet the standards set forth required by the applicable safety standards. ASE Certifications are required as determined by the hiring manager based on work to be assigned Engine Repair Automatic Trans Transaxle Manual Drive Train and Axles Suspension and Steering Brakes Electrical Electrical Systems Heating and Air Conditioning Engine Performance Master indicates certification for all of the above PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Is required to stand stoop bend stretch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions where parts worked on are in hard-to-reach places.
