Business Unit Overview:
BlackRock's US Wealth Advisory business manages relationships with US retail financial services firms and their advisors, who serve end investors. USWA offers a range of strategies including iShares ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs, model portfolios, alternatives, portfolio solutions, and sub-advisory programs. The goal of USWA is to provide a unified experience to our clients.
The USWA COO Team leads central initiatives and plans for BlackRock's US retail business. We coordinate functional areas and interactions with the broader BlackRock organization.
Job Purpose/Background:
Looking for a proactive individual to lead the team of ETL developers and data quality analysts. They should have practical expertise in designing and implementing flawless ETL processes in the Production Environment.
Crafting, coordinating, and leading all aspects of the entire ETL process, ensuring data is extracted from various sources, transformed into a usable format, and loaded into a data warehouse. The ideal candidate will have an interest in team collaboration and open communication, as well as strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction. Critical skills include attention to detail and creativity in problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a data delivery team, showcasing outstanding leadership and team management skills (both People + Technical).
Design ETL architecture and data flow to build a comprehensive blueprint for the ETL process.
Optimize ETL processes for performance and scalability.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements, improve data quality, and reduce time to market when new data feeds are received.
Partner with the central Aladdin engineering team on platform-level engagements (e.g., Global Client Business Client Data Platform).
Ensure the seamless flow of data between internal and external systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve ETL job failures and data discrepancies.
Coordinate and collaborate with engineers outside the team.
Document ETL processes and maintain technical specifications.
Participate in code reviews and strictly adhere to standard methodologies for development.
Stay updated with emerging ETL technologies and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Eligibility Criteria:
9+ years of experience in the design and development of ETL processes.
4+ years of experience leading a team of ETL developers and managing production data warehouses.
Proficiency in ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or DBT.
Proficiency in Python / PySpark programming and knowledge of data modeling and data architecture principles.
Experience with building ETL processes for cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake).
Extensive knowledge of Python programming language, including libraries for data structures, reporting templates, etc.
Experience in SQL, PL/SQL programming, Stored procedures, UDFs.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Experience in the asset management or financial services sector is a plus.
