Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TARGET SYSTEMS REPAIRER, Position Description Number PDD2709000 and is part of the WY Training Center Command, Wyoming Army National Guard. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is required. Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to repair, install, operate, and maintain a variety of Army Standard Integrated Target Systems, such as Armor Moving Target Carriers (AMTC), Infantry Moving Target Carrier Systems (IMTCS); Target Holding Mechanism Tank Gunnery (THMTG) and Enhanced Remote Target Systems (ERETS). (1) Installs, removes, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and repairs voice and/or nonvoice communications systems including intercom equipment; electronic systems; terminal communications equipment; modem; fiber-optic end equipment; T1-carriers, and line drivers. (2) Installs thermal target equipment to include, but not limited to, AC or DC powered thermal heating panels. (3) Isolates faulty components and determines extent of repair or replacement required to restore power, signal, or correct mechanical operation. (4) Inspects and tests Army Standard Integrated Target Systems, using wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and test equipment (i.e., voltmeters, multiplexers, miniature consoles, and digital multi-meters). (5) Operates and maintains wheeled vehicles assigned to the shop. * This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. * Requirements Conditions of Employment KEY REQUIREMENTS: Primary consideration will be given to current WY ARNG military members. If required, additional areas of consideration certificates may be released to hiring managers. Open to US Army, Army Reserves, and Army Nat'l Guard military members only Must be assessed into WY ARNG before appt. May take up to 120 days. Must become a member of the Wyoming Army Nat'l Guard before appt. Must submit ERB or DA Fm 2-1 with application. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval. PCS is not authorized. Indefinite position may convert to Perm if funding/position is available. Must obtain a Wildland Firefighting Red Card and Range Safety Level 2 Certification within 12 months of appt. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND NOTES: Paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Work involves repairing, installing, operating, and maintaining a variety of Army Standard Integrated Target Systems, such as Armor Moving Target Carriers (AMTC), Infantry Moving Target Carrier Systems (IMTS), Target Holding Mechanism Tank Gunnery (THMTG) an Enhanced Remote Target Systems (ERETS). Operates and performs maintenance on power generating and portable power source equipment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the ability to use and maintain electronic and electrical equipment, components, and ability to perform repairs and testing. Candidates must have knowledge of standard troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot for common recurring kinds of defects. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training demonstrating knowledge of electronics, test equipment, measuring devices, and equipment used to assemble, disassemble, clean, replace, or adjust target systems and control panels. Candidates must be proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, specifications, and wiring diagrams to aid in minor troubleshooting and repairs of defected equipment. NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain Range Safety Level 2 certification AND a Wildland Firefighting Red Card within 12 months of employment. TENURE: GROUP III - INDEFINITE Purpose: To fill a position that may last for more than 1 year where the need for an employee's services is not permanent or management expects the position to potentially become permanent (career or career-conditional) at some time in the future. Often used to backfill positions left vacant by employees entering Title 10 or Title 32 military orders with reemployment rights. An employee with statutory reemployment rights (USERRA) is protected for five years.
