Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior HR Business Partner, Plants - CPS will serve as a member of the human resource solutions team responsible for delivering employee relations services to the protein business. In this role, you will use employee relations knowledge to coordinate complex processes and deliver human resource services, which include conducting investigations, corrective actions, conflict resolution, leave management, industrial and labor relations and monitoring compliance programs. This role is a strategic business partner that assists with talent development to strengthen employee services such as engagement and retention.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as an employee relations specialist within our market Human Resources Solution team to provide relevant and effective consulting services.

  • Assist your assigned locations and businesses with employee relations services as requested or as need arises on urgency or as workflow dictates.

  • Conduct investigations concerning employee and management inquiries and employee suggestions and complaints.

  • Act as a strategic business partner to strengthen employee services.

  • Confer with employees and provide guidance and consultation making sure they are using the tools and resources available.

  • Work with legal resources and consultants to ensure employee relations activities adhere to company policy and legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Help prepare audits, reporting and compliance reviews pertaining to local regulations and programs.

  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma/certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement HR processes and client focused solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and lead by influence

  • Experience conducting investigations, anticipating issues, problem solving and implementing solutions

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of experience working in a union environment, and managing grievance processes

  • Experience designing and delivering training/education sessions for employees

  • Experience in working with HR partners outside of the business location

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or Industrial Relations

  • Previous union negotiation experience & conflict resolution experience

  • Working knowledge of Canadian provincial legislation
