The EHS Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental, health, and safety protocols within our manufacturing plant. They will develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The EHS Manager will lead training programs, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance. This position will have a direct reporting line to the Plant Manager and a dotted line to Regional EHS Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

  • Lead incident investigation processes, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness and compliance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into manufacturing processes, equipment design, and facility layout.

  • Manage waste management programs, including hazardous material handling, storage, and disposal, in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor and report on key EHS performance indicators, providing regular updates to management and stakeholders.

  • Stay current on emerging EHS regulations, technologies, and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors during inspections and inquiries.

  • Foster a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement by engaging employees at all levels and promoting proactive EHS initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct risk assessments, root cause analyses, and trend analyses.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven leadership abilities, including the ability to coach, mentor, and engage cross-functional teams.

  • Experience implementing and managing EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software applications for data management and reporting.

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to prioritize daily workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Recognized Certification in Environmental, Safety or Health, Risk Management such as CIH, CSP, etc. (Desirable, but not required)

Working Conditions:

This position operates within a manufacturing plant and office environment, requiring the ability to walk, stand, and occasionally lift objects. The role involves interactions with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
