Weyerhaeuser, Greenville Lumber mill located in Grifton, NC has an opening for a saw filer with industrial experience. Competitive wage and benefits package included. All candidates must be safety conscious, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, be experienced in working with other crafts, and have a desire to work in a market focused, team environment.

Key Functions:

Candidates selected for this position will bench and grind band saws, hammer and sharpen carbide saws, troubleshoot and work on filing equipment, and align sawmill equipment.

Key Functions: The Saw Filer will be responsible filing room activities consisting of, but not limited to:

· Participate in safety meetings and activities as determined by team and mill norms and standards * Benching and fitting bandsaws * Sharpening, tipping and benching round saws * Honing and maintaining knives * Pour babbit, maintenance of guides and maintaining guide plane * Complete PMs for sawmill and saw shop machinery as required * Participate in reliability task teams or activities as required * Help coach apprentices/operators to learn saw filing trade and help with PMs

Requirements - External * High School Diploma or equivalent * Mechanical background and aptitude * Experienced with sawmill mechanics, saw change-outs, Bandmill alignment. Such as crossline between guides and wheels. * Process two-years working experience as a band saw filer and/or two-years precision Millwright experience. * Knowledge of using precise measuring equipment, i.e., micrometers and dial indicators, etc. * Good communication skills * Willingness to work rotating shift schedules, weekends, and holidays as necessary * Have a good work record – safety and dependability * Self-motivated and able to follow instructions precisely * Be able to read, write and follow specific printed directions * Ability to troubleshoot lumber for quality and size control * Understanding of machine alignment procedures * Resume detailing education and work history required for consideration * Must be able to pass a computer base skilled test
