Job Overview

Little Feet, Big Steps Childcare and Preschool is seeking enthusiastic and caring Childcare Teachers and Assistant Teachers to join our team in Gretna, Nebraska (southwest of Omaha). At our center, we prioritize creating a nurturing and dynamic environment where children aged 6 weeks to 12 years can thrive. Reporting to the Director and Education Director, Teachers will oversee the classroom environment and curriculum, while Assistant Teachers will provide essential support in daily activities. Key Responsibilities

Teachers:

  • Support the Education Director with developing and implementing a curriculum that aligns with Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines (ELG), tailored to the needs of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and pre-kindergarteners.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and organized classroom environment that promotes social and emotional learning and growth.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, using the Procare Family Engagement app and in-person interactions to keep parents informed about their childs progress, share activities, photos, milestones, and address any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers, ensuring they are effectively supporting classroom activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all state regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and state required annual training to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education

Assistant Teachers:

  • Assist Lead Teachers in executing daily lesson plans and activities.
  • Support children during meal times, nap times, and transitions between activities.
  • Engage with children through play, encouraging social interactions and developmental milestones.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Report directly to the Lead Teacher within your assigned classroom and provide feedback on classroom activities.

Qualifications/Experience

General Requirements:

  • Must pass a criminal history record check, child abuse/neglect central registry check, and sex offender registry check.
  • Must complete a Health Information Report within 30 days of hiring.

Teachers:

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Certificated Teacher: Requires a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate.
  • Non-Certificated Teacher: Hold a bachelors or associates degree in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development; or possess a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential; or have a high school diploma or GED, plus 1,500 verified clock hours of childcare experience, or must obtain 3 credit hours (or 45 clock hours) of relevant childcare training within six months of employment.

Assistant Teachers:

  • Minimum age of 16 with a demonstrated interest in working with children.
  • Prior experience in a childcare setting is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from the Lead Teacher.

Skills
