Eaton Corporation Lead Manufacturing Engineer in Greenwood, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer. This role is based out of our Greenwood, SC location.

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will provide day to day support of the manufacturing team as well as longer-term strategic planning and project management. Will be called upon to research and identify potential process and automation improvements and to prioritize department opportunities.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead efforts to proactively identify process and factory automation improvements which deliver Safety, Quality, Productivity, and reduced Cost targets.

  • Drive factory automation through the development of design specifications, programs, simulations, and test processes. Provide start-up assistance for automation and control systems design in a manufacturing environment.

  • Provide day to day support for the manufacturing team, including troubleshooting for assembly, material, tooling, or engineering concerns.

  • Develop or purchase manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling.

  • Identify, design, justify, quote and Implement Cost Reduction projects in line with change management process.

  • Manage capital spend projects for production equipment from inception and design to integration and run on.

  • Participate with multi-functional product development teams to ensure manufacturability of new designs through the PROLaunch process and Preventative Maintenance Optimization process.

  • Analyze equipment downtime to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs; applies technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop equipment, fixturing, procedures, processes, tooling and/or automation.

  • Assess process capabilities, identify improvement opportunities and integrates new processes & equipment to maximize manufacturing throughput and velocity.

  • Identify resource needs for the plant, assist in preparing budgets and major appropriation requests.

  • Provide engineering support as required for maintenance department, engineering, and product testing labs.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited university.

  • 3+ years of engineering work experience in manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Proven experience in small capital projects as turnkey (design, equipment validation, in production, service support)

  • Web handling and winding experience

  • Capital Project Management

  • Warehousing and logistics optimization

  • Request for quotation (RFQ) drafting

  • Control Plan ownership including PFMEA

  • Risk mitigation from lessons learned including DFMEA

  • Standard work (playbooks, work instructions)

  • Cost Reduction projects

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills that include root cause analyses, pareto, fishbone, and 5-Why

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Experience with MRP systems, MS Office including Visio, and AutoCAD

  • Experience with MES

  • Communication with external suppliers and contractors

  • Plant Layout optimization, material and process flow

  • Value Stream Mapping

  • Kaizen/Lean principles
