Position: Eligibility Specialist

Supervisor: Controller

Job Summary: The Eligibility Specialist at Abilis plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely management of government funding sources, including DSS, DDS, and SSA/SSI. This position requires adherence to agency policies and federal regulations, with a focus on managing funding, tracking payments, and reporting. The specialist will work closely with the Controller, Finance Director, and accounting team, and is responsible for supporting the agencys financial operations, including audits and special projects.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Exempt Position)

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and adhere to agency policies, state and federal regulations, and ensure confidentiality.

``` - Track and manage DSS and SSA/SSI funding, handle monthly reports, and address funding discrepancies.

``` - Maintain comprehensive client files, complete government and internal reports accurately and on time, and assist with annual audits.

``` - Work effectively as part of a team to resolve accounting issues and support the Controller and Finance Director on special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track client wages, DSS, SSA, and SSI income monthly.

``` - Investigate and resolve missing checks or payment errors.

``` - Complete and distribute redeterminations and other required reports.

``` - Ensure proper invoicing for medical supplies and report client status changes.

``` - Distribute personal funds timely and accurately.

``` - Review and submit DDS and EDS Attendance Reports.

```{=html}

``` - Maintain accurate personal fund records and ensure proper distribution.

``` - Conduct audits of residential home financial records.

``` - Prepare and review audit reports.

```{=html}

``` - Provide training to Residential Program Managers and Assistant Managers on financial record maintenance.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Business Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.

``` - 3-5 years of experience in social work, bookkeeping, or accounting.

``` - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word) with a willingness to learn new software.
