Job Description:

The Lead, Systems Engineer (COMINT) will be responsible for working with the customer to comprehensively design and implement new system functionality. They will write requirements, support development, perform integration testing of new or modified products in a Systems Integration Laboratory and on airborne and ground-based platforms.

Essential Functions:

  • Verifies and validates new baseline functionality while ensuring legacy functionality continues to work as intended.

  • Interface with other Systems Engineers, Agile Development Engineering, Flight Line Test, Product Development and Project Engineering to understand new baseline functionality.

  • Interfaces with the customer to ensure their satisfaction with system performance.

  • Work with management to develop and adhere to schedules and budgets required to accomplish assigned work.

  • Understanding of both software engineering, hardware engineering, and program management.

  • Prepare and present technical results for internal and external program meetings.

  • Document and support infrastructure, network, & mission processor design verification tests within lab, ground and flight test environments.

  • Develop, track and present technical metrics.

  • Manage requirements using collaborative tools through all phases of the project.

  • Read and interpret block diagrams, wire diagrams, mechanical drawings and circuit schematics.

  • Understanding of System Engineering fundamentals and processes.

  • Operational COMINT systems experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of Special Signals communications.

  • Sense of urgency and responsiveness.

  • Ability to accommodate multiple tasking sources and able to adapt to new tasks.

  • Strong networking and communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive in an environment where switch tasking is required.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% both international and Domestic.

  • RF design understanding.

  • Perform RF cascade analysis, properly distribute and balance gain to minimize system noise and maximize dynamic range.

  • Make accurate measurements with VNAs, Spec. Analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes etc.

  • Understanding of RF communication systems, modulations, encoding and multiplexing.

  • Comfort with Matlab scripting.

  • Familiarity with Hypervisor, containers, and Linux operating including comfort with Command Line Linux.

  • Basic network familiarity and awareness of the OSI model.

  • Support of proposals and bidding.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems specifically SAP.

  • Operational experience with Special Signal Communications.

  • Understand basic networking and familiarity with NIST publications.

  • Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.

  • Proficiency with Linux administration, Bash scripting, Windows PowerShell, Windows administration, Nessus, Wireshark, Nmap.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with nine (9) years of experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, systems analysis and design, system performance modeling, integration and/or project management, and/or model-based systems engineering.

  • Graduate degree with seven (7) years of experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, systems analysis and design, system performance modeling, integration and/or project management, and/or model-based systems engineering.

  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, systems analysis and design, system performance modeling, integration and/or project management, and/or model-based systems engineering.

  • Active Top Secret with SCI required at the time of hire.

  • Must successfully pass a Class III Flight Physical.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or other related degree.

  • Cybersecurity Certification such as Sec+, CASP+, CySA or CISSP.

  • Prior military or SIGINT operator experience.
