Overview:

  • The Test Apprenticeship Program combines both academic studies and on-the-job training to develop the fundamentals required to become a skilled Test Operator.

  • Applicants must hold an Computer Technology, IT Systems, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics or similar Degree or be currently enrolled in a local community college pursuing the degree.

  • During the program, assessments are conducted at 6-month intervals for apprentices to validate the program effectiveness as well as individual knowledge and skill improvements.

  • Seven-year progression to reach Test Operator top pay rate (G35 / A36), with last two progressions being merit based.

  • Multiple openings may be filled with this job posting.

  • Must work full time while attending technical school and successfully pass academic requirements or have previously passed required program academics.

  • After successful completion of the program, offers will be extended based on business conditions and needs.

  • Tuition, fees, and books will be paid by any available grants, scholarship funding and GE (via tuition reimbursement benefits).

Eligibility / Qualifications:

  • Applicants must hold an Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, Computer Technology, IT Systems or similar Degree or be currently enrolled in a local community college pursuing the degree.

  • Successfully pass an extensive interview process.

  • Successfully pass an Accredited Community College Entrance Exam.

  • Successfully pass all mechanical/electrical/computer aptitude assessments.

  • Ability to work overtime as required, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work occasional weekend shifts as required, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability and willingness to work any shift: 1st Shift (6:45 AM-2:45 PM) 2nd shift (2:45-10:45 PM) or 3rd shift (10:45 PM-6:45 AM).

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to perform work while standing a minimum of 7 hours per day, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to carry 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive motion tasks daily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work above or below floor level and in confined spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay Rate: The pay for this position is $24.888 This position is also eligible for shift premium when you work on an off shift i.e. 2nd or 3rd shift. Plus $1.00 USD an hour on top of base pay. This posting is expected to close on Oct 14th, 2024
