We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Systems Programmer for a client based in South Carolina. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work within the IBM z/OS and Mainframe System environment, contributing to various project work over the coming months. This position can work remotely on EST hours.

Responsibilities:

• Upgrade our mainframe platforms from IBM z13’s to z15’s.

• Possess expert level knowledge with CICS

• Provide flexible support, including after-hours work due to maintenance window requirements.

• Be available for support calls after hours on a rotational basis.

• Work remotely with the equipment provided by the company.

• Operate within the IBM z/OS and Mainframe System environment.

• Participate in various project work related to system upgrades and maintenance.

• Ensure the smooth running of the mainframe systems.

• Assist with on call support rotation as needed.

• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues as they arise.

• Collaborate with the team to handle system requirements and updates.

• Adhere to regular business hours based on the east coast time zone.

Requirements

• Proficiency in IBM z/OS, IBM Mainframe, Mainframe System, and Mainframe z/OS

• Possess expert level knowledge with CICS

• Demonstrated experience in mainframe development

• Strong knowledge of mainframe coding and debugging

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a changing environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

• Commitment to continuous professional development and learning new technologies

• Experience with version control systems is a plus

• Familiarity with Agile principles and methodologies is desirable.
