Excela Health PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT IV CASUAL- INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY in Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Description

  • Performs procedures, for which they are credentialled, under the direct or proximate supervision of the interventional radiologist as identified by the privilege granted.

  • Formulates a diagnosis and establishes priorities to meet the pts. health and medical needs.

  • Provides patient education and counseling covering such things as health status, test results, disease processes and discharge planning.

  • Performs history and physical examinations

  • Performs, orders and interprets preventative and non-invasive diagnostic tests. Gathers data and initiates consults. Makes sound decisions and records progress notes.

  • Develops treatment plans.

  • Reviews results and orders diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities.

  • Dictates discharge summaries.

  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-operative therapeutic interventions such as medications, treatments, IV fluids, electrolytes, etc.

  • Services as a surgical assistant

  • Performs basis skills such as those listed below under proximate supervision.

  • Venipuncture

  • Nasogastric/enteric and orogastric tube placement,

  • Read and interpret EKG’s,

  • Removal of chest tubes and catheters

  • Superficial wound debridement and closure

  • Performs incision drainage of palpable superficial masses

  • Initiates and manages blood component therapy

  • Performs under proximate supervision invasive procedures for which he/she is credentialed.

  • Following training, is credentialed to utilize fluoroscopy safely.

  • Following training, is credentialed to administer moderate sedation under proximate supervision.

  • Assists and maintains sterile techniques through procedures.

  • Available to assist in emergency procedures within interventional radiology

  • Communicates with supervising physician in a timely manner regarding changes in the patient’s progress, status, or critical test results.

  • Perform clinical responsibilities in a manner that maximizes patient care and outcomes.

  • Assess and treat patients in clinic setting, both independently and with supervision.

  • Collaborates with the supervising physician and or substitute supervising physician and members of the treatment team to achieve desired outcomes and to assure continuous flow of patient care.

  • Communicate pertinent information, including change in condition, timely and efficiently to the supervising physician.

  • Document in the medical record, record patient's current mental status, document all screenings and assessments performed, record medication changes, prescriptions written and samples provided, document patient's complaints, concerns and questions as appropriate, document any/all telephone contact with patients, families, pharmacists or physicians, record beginning and end times of each session, and sign and date all documentation.

  • Demonstrate leadership by utilizing the concepts inherent to the practice of a professional physician assistant.

  • Demonstrate an ability to problem solve independently utilizing critical thinking skills and seeks assistance from immediate supervisor when appropriate.

  • Perform effectively in the role of preceptor/mentor to new hire/students.

  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities designed to enhance the quality of patient care, customer service, or practice efficiencies.

  • Identify initiatives to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.

  • Assist in chart review/audits as needed for performance improvement data collection.

  • Support initiatives implemented to improve patient outcomes and or efficiencies.

  • Provide for patient safety in compliance with hospital and or physician practice policies.

  • Adhere to infection control processes, including standard precautions, to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infections.

  • Utilize two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care.

  • One (1) year of interventional radiology or associated similar specialty training

  • Experience with interpreting radiographic imaging

  • Experience in the OR, willingness to assist in surgery or procedures

  • Successful completion of the internal Radiation Management Credentialing course

  • Successful completion of internal Moderate section course

Required

  • Masters or better in PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

  • Accre Physician Assist Pr or better in PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
