Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Inspector, Lead Inspector II performs all required buy-back inspections, general visual inspections, verifies ok-to-close, reviews discrepancies for airworthiness, and performs additional duties assigned by Chief Inspector or Assistant Chief Inspector (Lead Inspector III). Lead Inspector II will additionally assist crew leads and technicians to ensure all paperwork and aircraft documentation is kept accurate as well current.

Job Responsibilities

  • MRO Safety and Operations – Ensures that all 145 maintenance operations are consistently conducted in accordance with FAA, local, state, and federal regulations and Signature Aviation requirements and quality.

  • Training – Participates in all initial and recurrent training sessions to meet current requirements.

  • Compliance –Ensures the maintenance operation complies with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (Title 14 CFRs), Quality Procedures (QP), Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and all reporting requirements. Conducts all quality control inspections and ensures timely completion and maintenance of records. Ensures that all maintenance operations and practices meet FAA, federal, state, and agency requirements.

  • Customer Service – Provides exceptional customer service to all Signature Aviation customers, suppliers, and employees – 100% customer satisfaction. Represents Signature Aviation in a positive, courteous, and professional manner regardless of customer requests or complaints. Ensures that customers receive correct services.

  • Research – Perform review of due list or logbooks for upcoming items during inspection with the assistance of Chief Inspector inspection department members. Review of AFM/POH as required for currency. Review of applicable Airworthiness Directives through latest issue of Bi-Weekly List for articles maintained and/or inspected by the repair station.

  • Assist technicians and Crew Chiefs in evaluating articles maintained by the repair station for airworthiness and determining resolutions for obstacles that arise during the process of inspection or maintenance.

  • 14 CFR 145.213 – Performs inspection buy-back of work performed in the repair station ensuring that work is performed to a satisfactory standard that meets approved or accepted data. Must ensure that all work performed is satisfactorily documented, capturing all pertinent information describing the work performed.

  • Must engage and participate in the Quality Control System established in accordance with 14 CFR 145.211. Lead Inspector II has a moderate to high working knowledge of Quality Control System.

  • Contributes suggestions for improvements to Quality Control System, procedures, and processes.

  • Assist the Chief Inspector in repair station audits internal and external.

  • Perform Final Inspection and Return to Service (Maintenance Release) of articles maintained by the repair station.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess and maintain valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant License

  • Must have five (5) plus years’ experience in aircraft maintenance.

  • Lead Inspector II must have five (5) plus years inspection / quality experience.

  • Must have at least three (3) years’ experience with maintenance release / return to service (RTS) of aircraft (14 CFR § 91 & 35 operators).

  • Possesses moderate to high familiarity with inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment and tools used to determine airworthiness (14 CFR 145.155).

  • Possesses moderate to high familiarity with Title 14 CFRs: 91, 135, 145 (14 CFR 145. 155)

  • Possesses moderate to high familiarity with proficiency in various types of inspection equipment and visual inspection aids (14 CFR 145.155).

  • Must understand, read, and write English language as required by 14 CFR 145.155.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Associate Degree in electronics related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 18 years of age

  • Must maintain a valid state driver’s license. May be required to maintain a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) and certification requirements for operating equipment as necessary

  • Be Familiar with FAR parts 21, 23, 25, 39, 43, 65, 91, 135, 145

  • Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Possess excellent customer relation skills

  • Proficient in computer operations and Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)

  • Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Working knowledge of applicable FCC, FAA, OSHA, and environmental regulations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform maintenance operations outside and in extreme temperatures and inclement weather

  • Excellent vision, coordination, and hearing required to detect problems and conduct inspections

  • Physically able to perform frequent walking, stretching, bending, sitting, stooping, reaching, grasping, and climbing actions

  • Requires dexterity to manipulate hand and power tools

  • Physically able to perform heavy lifting on a regular basis up to 50 pounds

  • May be required to work nights and weekends to handle contingencies and emergencies
