The opportunity

  • Provides a full range of legal advice and services, acting as a business partner across Teva API India organization (“TAPI”) with particular emphasis on handling a manifold of considerable day-to-day legal coverage to various functions and plants in India.

  • This role requires a technically excellent and pro-active lawyer to create opportunities for the business while embracing high integrity standards

  • Serves as a legal business partner within the TAPI organization

  • Addresses internal or external legal issues and recommends solutions/best practices

  • Research and evaluate local legislation and different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations

  • Works independently, with guidance in complex and high risk situations

How you’ll spend your day

  • Support operations (manufacturing) business units in TAPI India through providing professional legal advice, support contracting and providing other needed actions.

  • Supported internal customers include Production, Commercial Businesses (sales), procurement and other support functions such as Finance, HR, Quality and Regulatory.

  • Drafts contracts, formalizes terms of agreement, and draft other legal documents in order to safeguard and promote TAPI’s best interest.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and industry codes, as well as with TAPI policies.

  • Travels to sites within India as and when required.

  • Instructs and manages external law firms and counsels for ongoing litigation– ensuring adherence with cost management principles at all times.

  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues/litigation.

  • Conduct day to day legal work with integrity and responsibility

  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

  • Provide legal support to corporate governance matters, such are convening Board meetings and General Meetings, preparing agenda and minutes, finalizing meeting related documents and completing pre and post meeting formalities for legal entities in India.

FINANCE + CONTROLLING

  • Assist in planning, and manage the legal budget for TAPI, so that it is used as effectively as possible to create the best possible outcome for the company.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

Internally:

  • Meetings with key business partners to understand their objectives and provide legal advice

  • Project meetings as needed

  • Interaction with TAPI international legal community

Externally:

  • Legal advisors, Sr. Advocates, External law firms.

  • Government agencies, regulatory state authorities, as and when required.

Your experience and qualifications

  • University degree in Law

  • CS qualification will be an added advantage

  • Commercial lawyer with at least 8 to 10 years of experience with business operations (law firm Associate or In-house lawyer)

  • Solid commercial and contract law experience and litigation.

  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or medical devices or healthcare company is a big advantage

  • Knowledge and experience with Employee law related issue will be an added advantage.
