BFS Group LLC Cashier in Great Falls, Montana

PURPOSE

Under direct supervision, greets incoming customers in a pleasant and professional manner. Processes payment of customer purchases at retail locations. Counts money to verify amounts and issues receipts for funds received using a cash register. Provides training and assistance to less experienced Cashiers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Greets customers and receives payment; issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers; package customer purchases; thanks customers for their business.

  1. Acknowledges incoming customers in a pleasant manner and provides product information, location, and general store knowledge. Directs customer to product pick-up point, if necessary.

  1. Opens and closes-out till and accurately documents all transactions, makes accurate change, verifies credit cards and checks, and balances receipts.

  1. Approves cash refunds or issues credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise within company guidelines.

  1. Processes rain checks by contacting customers when out-of-stock merchandise is received.

  1. Provides prompt and efficient telephone service.

  1. Keeps work area clean and neat.

  1. Assists in pricing and stocking inventory, display preparation and maintenance, and maintains quality store presentation.

  1. Participates in annual physical inventory activities.

  1. Provides training and assistance to less experienced cashiers.

  1. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

  1. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and two (2) years cashier or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong customer service skills both face-to-face and telephone
  • Good mathematical aptitude
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be detailed oriented
  • Ability to use tact and skill in dealing with other staff, management and vendors
  • Working knowledge in the use of cash register
