The general role of the Mechanical Field Technician II - Engineering and Automation is to provide hands-on mechanical support for a wide range of projects as they progress from concept to installation. The projects vary greatly and consist of anything from custom electromechanical equipment, structures, and robotics, to workstations or equipment mounting. This individual will work in conjunction with engineers and project managers as assigned. The work will be performed mainly in the shop and at customer sites as needed.
This individual possesses a working understanding of mechanical principles and requires an aptitude and willingness for hands-on work in the shop or field. This position must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include travel and overtime as needed.
The Mechanical Field Technician I will report to an Engineer, Senior Engineer, Project Manager, or other Management as assigned and works primarily out of the Grantsville location.

Responsibilities
- Perform assembly, troubleshooting, prototyping, and light fabrication in shop and field settings
- Collaborate with Project Managers and other Engineering personnel to organize tools and materials and plan for assembly and installation
- Identify potential issues and opportunities for Change Orders and communicate with Project Managers and other Engineering personnel
- Interpret mechanical drawings and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products
- Maintain tool organization
- Provide troubleshooting to follow a problem to the source and solve the issue
- Develop and execute quality control and project check lists
- Learn to view designs and navigate 3D/2D CAD software
- Train and mentor Mechanical Field Technician I's
- Provide feedback for performance reviews as needed

Qualifications
- Possess High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in a role requiring hands-on mechanical applications and installations
- Ability to identify and use basic hand tools
- Valid drivers license required
- Ability to follow work direction and prioritize assigned tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work well both independently and as a team
- Working knowledge of personal computers to include Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Willingness to stretch current abilities to learn new skills
- Aptitude for leadership preferred
- Abil ty to understand scope of work for specific tasks
Working Conditions
- Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
- Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write, and type
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Perform work on site in industrial, commercial, and residential locations
