Job Description

GE Aerospace is seeking engineers interested in software, systems, design, and hardware engineering roles to help us invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely. This role provides project and technical leadership within Platform Hardware team. In this role you will direct, manage, drive and support day-to-day Engineering, operations, continuous improvement, technology growth, and innovation projects. You will work across the organization to ensure technical rigor, compliance, and smart solutions in meeting project and business milestones.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management of multidisciplinary design teams, managing cost, scope, and schedule.

  • Lead technical design/verification activities and reviews.

  • Develop product requirements specifications and assist in the high-level design of both Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) and Circuit Card (CCA).

  • Provide oversight of the technical, planning and execution of projects.

  • Apply standard principles of project management with forecasting, SPI, CPI and earned value.

  • Lead projects to closeout.

  • Communicate status and determine program needs with stakeholders.

  • Lead global teams to deliver competitive solutions in a timely manner.

  • Perform product certification planning, reviews, test plan & procedure development for Integration, Verification & Robustness activities.

  • Coordinate with sourcing and manufacturing to lead projects through transition from design to initial LRU build and into formal test.

  • Oversee test execution and debug, perform generation of test reports, develop mitigation plans for issues & risks and monitor to closure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in hardware design/development or project leadership.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience in writing and executing project plans.

  • Knowledge of GE Hardware development processes.

  • PMP training.

  • Experience in Avionics products or Test Systems.

  • Demonstrated experience with Proposals and RFQ.

  • Demonstrated experience with supplier management.

  • Strong customer interface skills and customer focus.

  • Proactive, self-starter.

  • Dedicated, fast paced, customer-centric solution provider with strong knowledge in product development process-flow, best practices and Lean methodologies for process improvement.

  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.

  • Ability to manage key project initiatives, providing key milestone reporting and status updates.

  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to help build coalitions and consensus among team members and functional leaders to achieve cross functional collaboration and improvement.

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and working sessions.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail oriented and well organized, the ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and respond quickly to numerous high priorities and demands.

  • Demonstrated management of expectations across multiple stakeholders and communicate information accordingly.

  • Broad exposure and demonstrated mature leadership experience, including change management.

  • Substantial experience in Test Software, Hardware & Systems Engineering.

  • Experience evaluating and delegating work to outside suppliers

  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.

  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
