Senior Director, Business Operations - Facilities & Support Services

Job Summary

The Senior Director, Business Operations - Facilities & Support Services oversees Facilities and Support Services business operations for multiple divisions including, ambulatory facilities throughout our service area. Key responsibilities include leading the following across multiple locations: strategic planning, program development, capital planning and fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and implementation, performance improvement and maintenance of collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the organization. This role will frequently collaborate with the executive leadership as well as Nursing, Patient Experience, Infection prevention, Human Resources, Legal and Risk leadership teams to ensure operational success.

Essential Functions

  • Provides strategic direction and oversees F&SS business operations. Partners with F&SS department leaders to assure safe, cost effective, quality services based on regulatory, accrediting, and professional practice standards, and the philosophy, policies, and procedures for the assigned Service Line(s).

  • Develops and manages the annual budget and capital planning for all F&SS departments. Reviews and monitors financial results of the sites. "Responsible for execution of Operational Deployment System across areas of Responsibility”.

  • Provides financial/revenue expertise in managing our current services. Develops programs and collaborative strategies to enhance growth, increased revenue or expense reduction for service areas. Steers and directs capital equipment priorities based on system needs within the capital funding available. Directs optimal productivity and benchmarking metrics, as well as cost efficiencies for the assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Collaborates in the development of key success metrics. Monitors metrics and results. Ensures that organizational and client performance expectations are met. Manages SEAR capitals pools assigned to F&SS as well as capital governance timelines to ensure successful execution of capital funding for F&SS.

  • Directs workforce management system for F&SS which drives optimal productivity and benchmarking metrics, as well as cost efficiencies for the assigned areas of responsibility. Develops and maintains quality monitoring system to continuously monitor and measure the quality, safety, and outcomes of business services. Develops service quality indicators to evaluate unit performance, staff performance, and develops improvement plans to correct variances. Participates in and facilitates interdisciplinary performance initiatives. Develops an internal structure for the department that requires accountability and encourages professional growth.

  • Ensures department performance achieves established goals for financial performance, patient experience, quality outcomes and physician/employees' satisfaction. Facilitates quality improvement within F&SS areas targeting key clinical and non-clinical outcomes as well as process improvement opportunities.

  • Plans, prepares, implements, monitors and controls assigned areas’ operational and capital budget to ensure sound fiscal management consistent with the goals of Corewell Health. Plans staffing and resource allocation to meet productivity targets and patient care needs.

  • Develops and manages the annual budget. Reviews and monitors financial results of the sites. Sets the vision based on advanced analytics to support the business need for future state planning. Maintains current knowledge of business operations and management techniques.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and experience) in Healthcare Management, Business, or related field.

  • 10 years of relevant experience leadership experience with demonstrated strength in site relationships management, process management, general business operations management and people management skills Required.

  • 5 years of relevant experience Progressively responsible leadership experience in an organization of the size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health Required.

  • Ability to develop project plans, coordinate project work, and complete projects on time and within budget. Required.
