Genesis Seating Quality Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan

As a Quality Engineer you will have the opportunity to support the organization to meet customer expectations for products and services.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by monitoring the quality performance of the supply base, drive improvement in supplier performance and improve our internal processes through continuous improvement.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. 

So, what will you be doing as a Quality Engineer?

  • Managing the quality performance of the supply base by monitoring & reporting PPM performance of key suppliers.
  • Communicating PPAP requirements to suppliers on engineering changes or new products, managing PPAP promise dates and approving supplier PPAPs.
  • Monitoring scrap rates, identifying excellent, moderate and problem suppliers, completing supplier assessments if necessary, developing an improvement plan with suppliers to improve performance, monitoring progress.
  • Assist in the development and approval of incoming inspection plans.
  • Performing internal audits of products and processes, identifying corrective actions and driving completion of the actions.
  • Identifying potential VA/VE projects and working with a cross-functional team to completion.
  • Work to bring internal business processes to an ISO 9000-compliant level and maintain that complaint level through participation in internal auditing and internal documentation development.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Five years minimum as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in managing and driving projects.
  • Experience in internal auditing

Things we consider a plus:

  • BS in a technical discipline
